Labour Give Youth Carrot

Labour Give Youth Carrot
**Youth advocacy group Youth Organised and United (YOU) today celebrated the announcement of Labour's new policy aimed at phasing in a universal student allowance.
YOU spokesperson Dan Luoni said, “It’s great to see a party offering youth an incentive to work, rather than the tough talk that we are too used to this year.”
The policies and threats that were aimed at young people earlier this year were short sighted and authoritarian. YOU believe that the best way to keep people in the country and fix our undereducated work force is by making New Zealand a place that young people want to live in.
“We are really pleased to see a bit of carrot, the stick got old… fast.”
The only fault that YOU have been able to find with the Governments new initiative is it’s timing. “We would have liked to have seen a policy like this rolled out years ago.”
“This policy is essentially a pre-election bribe. We want to send the decision makers of New Zealand the political equivalent of “I’m listening”” Luoni said.
