Male To Appear In Court Over Aggravated Bank Robbery

A 20 year old male is in custody charged with the aggravated robbery of St Martins, Christchurch, Westpac bank this afternoon.
At 1.50pm a male entered the bank on Wilsons Road with his face concealed and presented what appeared to be a firearm.
A sum of money was handed over and he left heading over and through properties. Dogs and police patrols cordoned and tracked the male and he was apprehended at the back of a Riverlaw Terrace residence.
He has been charged with aggravated robbery and will appear in court tomorrow.
Most of the money has been recovered says Senior Sergeant Rob Patterson of Sydenham Police, however asks residents between St Martins Mall and Riverlaw Terrace to check their properties. The alleged firearm has also been recovered.
