New National President For NCWNZ
This weekend has seen a change at the top of the National Council of Women of New Zealand (NCWNZ), with Elizabeth Bang
elected as NCWNZ National President, at the NCWNZ National Conference in Masterton.
Elizabeth Bang from Hamilton was the senior vice president for fours years of NCWNZ, and has been involved with the
Council since the 1980s. Mrs Bang is also the CEO of Hospice Waikato.
Easlier today Mrs Bang, announced the two new target focus areas that NCWNZ will be highlighting. Thess are Finanical
Sustainability and Positive Mental Well-Being.
Mrs Bang says under Finanical Sustainability, NCWNZ will draw awareness in areas of concern to women, Pay Equity,and the
gender pay gap.
"Finanicial Sustainability is about having the means to have insurance, life, health, accident, property,work insurance.
It is about having the means to save for retirement," says Mrs Bang.
The expansion to the current Paid Parental Leave policy, would also greatly help the finanical Sustainability of women
Mrs Bang believes.
"The only way to effectively ensure change to the Parental Paid Leave is for people to question all political parties on
their position on the scheme," says Mrs Bang.
The another equally important target focus for NCWNZ, that of Positive Mental Well –Being.
"This is an essential part of our overall health and well- being, to allow each and everyone of us to feel; in control,
able to make decisions, being able to form positve relationships and knowings when and where to go for help and very
importantly knowing you are being heard," concluded Mrs Bang.
