TV3 Leader’s Debate Coverage
TV3 has cancelled its proposed Campbell Live Leader’s Debate scheduled for Thursday, October 9.
The network intended to broadcast a 90-minute debate with all of the leaders of the parties in Parliament. However, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition have stated that they will not engage in a debate with the leaders of the other political parties.
“As a consequence of Clark and Keys' refusal to debate with other leaders the proposed debate has been rendered not viable and will now not proceed,” says Keith Slater, 3 News Auckland Bureau Chief.
“The minor parties will still have ample opportunity on TV3 to communicate their policies in the coming weeks before the election on November 8.”
A debate between the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition is under consideration by TV3.
