Party Leader To contest Manurewa
Family Party pre-election conference
Sat 27th September 10am – 2pm
Metro Theatre, 351 Massey Rd, Mangere
Family Party leader Richard Lewis will announce today his decision to contest the Manurewa electorate against Labour MP George Hawkins.
The move comes after Mr Lewis vacated the Manukau East position to bring through longstanding Otara resident, Papali’i Poutoa Papali’i.
“I am excited to put my name forward for consideration by the residents of Manurewa and believe my background in policing and the Family Party commitment to building strong families will find favour. Having policed the area, I am aware that crime is right up there as a major issue facing the electorate. The Family Party policy to significantly boost frontline police numbers and resources is entirely relevant. Coming from the perspective of having worked the frontlines brings a refreshing approach to real issues,” he added.
Mr Lewis will make the announcement during his speech at about 11am this morning, at the Metro Theatre 351 Massey Road, Mangere.
