Counties/Manukau Police have arrested a 32 year-old Mangere man who will appear in the Manukau District Court charged with murder today as a result of this morning's shooting of a Police Officer.
A second Mangere man, 34, has been arrested and will also appear in the Manukau District Court charged this afternoon with assault.
Detective Inspector John Tims says the body of the officer killed in the line of duty, Sergeant Don Wilkinson of Waimauku, has been removed from the Earlsworth Rd scene and will undergo a post-mortem examination today.
