Wellington and Stratford Police have today arrested and charged a 61-year-old Taranaki man in relation to the white powder incident that happened at Parliament Buildings in Wellington on 13 August 2008.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Miller, Wellington CIB, said that the arrest comes as a result of extensive forensic examination of documents that accompanied the white powder. This examination provided police with a positive line of enquiry.
The man will appear today in the Hawera District Court charged with Criminal Threats.
"We have world class forensic analysis capabilities and this combined with investigative expertise has led to today's arrest," Detective Senior Sergeant Miller said.
