Towards a more generous society-
Trends, issues and the future of giving in New Zealand
Presented by Robyn Scott
Changes that we have seen in the legislative arena in the past few years have been aimed at increasing giving in New Zealand. What are these changes?
What does the philanthropic landscape at present look like in New Zealand?
What are donors looking for?
What does international evidence suggest that the future of philanthropy looks like?
Robyn Scott is the Executive Director of Philanthropy New Zealand and is charged with leading and developing a key organisation that works to motivate and inspire philanthropists and grant makers. Generosity and good quality, thoughtful grant making reaches all corners of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Philanthropy New Zealand supports individuals, trusts and foundations who make a difference to our communities by giving in an organised, strategic fashion, often using a vehicle such as a trust to channel that giving or grant making. Think of philanthropy as a stone thrown into a pool – its effects begin with the individual and then spread through the organisation, the community it serves, the Community and Voluntary Sector as a whole and eventually all of civil society – it’s a most rewarding role. Robyn came to this role after experience in the Education sector as a teacher for a number of years and prior to leading another Not for Profit organisation. She has a passion for the worth and value of a flourishing civil society, and organisations as part of it, and combines a busy role of leading Philanthropy New Zealand with that of being a wife and Mother to two fabulous teenagers.
