NZ Police Grows By Over Ten Percent
New Zealand Police National News Release
30 June 2008
With 8,196 police officers in its ranks (not including recruits at police college), NZ Police has finished the second year of its three year growth phase ahead of target.
NZ Police staff numbers (full-time equivalents) have grown by 10.5% in the two years since its current recruitment drive commenced on 1 July 2006 and over 600 of the additional staff are police officers.
NZ Police General Manager of Human Resources Wayne Annan is pleased with the growth to date, and is looking forward to the positive benefits the additional staff will bring to New Zealand communities. According to Mr Annan, "the large growth in such a short period demonstrates the degree to which many New Zealanders like what our organisation stands for and want to be a part of it".
