Better ACC Cover for Seasonal/Casual Workers
Changes to the ACC legislation means from tomorrow seasonal and casual workers who become injured and cannot work will be treated the same as permanent workers when ACC calculates their entitlement to weekly compensation.
"This is an important change in the ACC legislation" says Mr David Wadsworth, Claimant Advocate and Principal of Access Support Services. "Now seasonal and casual workers can afford to take time off work to recover from their injuries rather than soldiering and doing more damage."
Mr Wadsworth also points out that workers can become eligible for weekly compensation if they are unable to work because of injury within 28 days of their employment ending.
