Stats Reveal Pro-Abortion Policy Failure
In the light of Statistics New Zealand's latest figures showing that 18,380 abortions were performed in the year ended 31 December 2007, Society president John Mills is very angry and says:
"By far the most dangerous place for a developing child to be in New Zealand is inside their mother's womb. I expect the anti-smacking brigade, such as Green MP Sue Bradford and the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon. Helen Clark who are so opposed to child abuse, would whole heartedly agree with me on this issue!"
The general abortion rate (abortions per 1000 women aged 15 to 44 years) increased from 19.6 in 2006 to 20.1 in 2007. It is noteworthy that women aged 20 to 24 - well informed as adults on methods of contraception - had more abortions than any other age group.
The growth rate in abortions for 2007 is 2.5 per cent more than for 2006. Considering that New Zealand's average economic growth rate for 1984-1994 was 1.5% per annum, this is a bumper batch of butchered babies - a real success story for the abortion industry driven by so-called women's health advocates such as Women's Health Action Trust director, Jo Fitzpatrick. She says her trust would welcome revision of the law so that even more abortions - baby killing - could be carried out.
"We would see this [a revision of the law] as moving to decriminalise abortion and improving access to services so that this difficult decision is easier and not harder for women" she told the NZPA (Dom Post 18/06/08).
Pro-abortionists - better described as pro-baby killers - assert that New Zealand does not effectively have "abortion on demand" - as claimed by anti-abortionists. However, the fact is that almost 99 per cent of women who apply each year for an abortion are granted one by certifying consultants on the ground that continuance of the pregnancy would result in serious danger to the mother's life or health. Dr Christine Forster, Chairperson of the Abortion Supervisory Committee (ASC) has conceded.
"Certifying consultants were using mental health grounds to provide abortion on demand and that she did not believe that all these had a mental health problem". (Front page article Sunday Star Times in November 2000. Emphasis added).
In a High Court judgement issued last week, Justice Forrest Miller said there was "reason to doubt the lawfulness of many abortions authorised by certifying consultants".
The ease with which women can obtain an abortion in New Zealand can be compared to the ease of a mass murderer (eg. an Al Qaeda terrorist) crossing a US border control with only one out of 100 border control operators awake on the job at their individual check points. In fact its easier because all three of the Abortion Supervisory Committee members, who have a statutory duty to oversee 'the border control' (ensure that certifying consultants are complying with the law etc.) are strongly in favour, like Fitzpatrick, of making the mas murder of babies more accessible. One is even a practising baby killer (abortionist) - herself.
