Popcorn Strike Part Two
Press Release, Unite Union
Unite members employed at Skycity Cinemas, in the St. Lukes complex, will be walking off the job on another popcorn strike tonight at 6.30pm.
In negotiations earlier this month the company offered cinema attendants discounts on ice-creams but no pay increase. The supervisors also want their experience and skill to be recognised but the company's offer of 3.5% would leave them being paid at $4 less per hour than supervisors in the fast-food industry.
Unite union is calling on movie-goers to boycott food and drink at Skycity Cinemas until the company wakes up.
