Call For Tax Cuts Now – Not Later.
Family First NZ is calling for tax cuts now, not in October as promised by the government.
“Families are struggling with soaring petrol prices and increasing food prices. Families are resorting to food banks, hire purchase, credit cards and finance companies. It is time the government offered relief, not in October but now,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ.
“The government has reaped the benefits of tax surpluses over the past 6-7 years. It is now time they came to the rescue of struggling and pressured families – both low- and now middle-income families.”
“The government bank balance is also benefiting from the increased tax take including GST on petrol prices.”
Family First NZ believes it is the role of government to consider the immediate needs of the community and struggling families.
“If tax cuts are available and necessary for families in October, the real question to the government is why not now?”says Mr McCoskrie.
