Thursday 12 June 2008 MEDIA RELEASE (No. 2) Operation Riverton Operation Riverton officers investigating the Saturday
night murder of Navtej Singh have recovered parts of a rifle believed to have been used to kill Mr Singh. The weapon
parts were recovered this afternoon amongst mangroves in the foreshore of the Tamaki Estuary in Otahuhu. Operation head
Detective Inspector Jim Gallagher says that since 1am this morning, the team had executed five search warrants - one in
Mt Albert and the rest in Counties/Manukau suburbs.
'We've recovered important evidence, including ammunition and some clothing items believed to have been worn during the
attack on Mr Singh,' Mr Gallagher said. 'We're still speaking to people who we believe are of assistance to the inquiry
although no further arrests have been made since earlier this morning.' Mr Gallagher reiterated the inquiry team's
interest in locating a white 4 x 4 vehicle that was seen on Riverton Drive at about the time of the attack on Mr Singh
and which sped away at the same time the getaway car left.
This afternoon Police advised they had located and were in possession of a vehicle they had sought earlier in the day.
'We're interested in hearing from people who know the offenders who have been charged to date - 20 year old Anitelea
Chan Kee and his brother, 24 year-old Mefiposeta Chan Kee and 17 year-old Tino Felise and who have had contact with them
since last Saturday night.' 'We also want information about others who were with these alleged offenders on Saturday
evening in the Randwick Park neighbourhood.'
