Vision Network supports High Court abortion decision
Vision Network said today it supported the High Court judgement which said that the Abortion Supervisory Committee had not given full regard to the rights of unborn children.
“The law was supposed to permit abortion only where there was serious danger to the life or health of the mother” said national director Glyn Carpenter.
If the law has been interpreted so liberally that the Judge says there is reason to doubt the lawfulness of many abortions, when you consider we are talking about ending life, this is quite frankly shocking.
The NZ Bill of Rights recognises the unborn child’s claim on the conscience of the community – not just the mother.
This is exactly as it should be.
Life is a precious gift and a decent society should do all it can to ensure that it is properly safeguarded - including proper care and support for mothers before and after birth.
