Youth Speak out Against Family Violence
Youthline and Women's Refuge invite young people and their families to
speak out against family violence by wearing "It's not OK" t-shirts
which are being launched during Youth Week.
Youthline says the message of the government's Campaign for Action on
Family Violence fits well with this year's Youth Week theme, Relate.
"Youth Week is all about celebrating our young people and focusing on
how positive relationships can inspire young people towards achieving
their potential. The Action on Family Violence campaign strongly sends
the message that young people need healthy and positive relationships
within their families, that are safe, supportive and violence free,"
says Youthline CEO Stephen Bell.
The t-shirts have been made with design input from young people and have
a funky Aotearoa theme.
The t-shirt design was part of a youth development project run in
partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and Families
Commission as part of the Campaign for Action on Family Violence - It's
not OK campaign.
The T-shirts are available for sale from www.youthline.co.nz
> and money from each $20 shirt will be
used to support both Youthline and Women's Refuge in their work with
young people and their families.
Both of these agencies are part of a partnership approach with
government to end family violence which includes the Family Violence
Information Line 0800 456 450 and the website www.areyouok.org.nz .
