Kiwi Party leader Larry Baldock called today for a full investigation into Immigration NZ that looks at not just corruption but incompetence as well.
“We have heard enough horrifying stories from those immigrating to NZ that we are ashamed of the injustices being inflicted on those seeking to start a new life here,” said Mr Baldock.
“The Auditor General should call for open public submissions to give INZ clients a chance to tell their stories of lost passports, lost information, unfair information requests and immigration officials who have arbitrarily wielded their decision making power on applications in ways that can only be viewed as biased.
These stories would give the real picture on how badly this department has been run under Mary-Anne Thompson’s leadership. When we launched the Kiwi Immigration Watch in April the Kiwi Party was calling for a full investigation. It now seems plain to everyone that this is essential if confidence is to be restored,” the Kiwi Party leader said.
