AMY ADAMS selected as National’s candidate for Selwyn
After a long legal battle to stop the selection process, Aylesbury Lawyer and farmer Amy Adams (36) has been selected as
National’s candidate for the Selwyn electorate.
The selection process was re-run after an earlier selection process was thought to be technically incorrect. It was
re-started in March with five candidates seeking the seat.
However legal action by an unsuccessful contender who did not make it through the early part of the process saw an
injunction granted and the process was stopped form some weeks.
Amy Adams, a mother of two children aged said she was thrilled to be selected to represent the National Party.
``I have spent many years trying to work with the Resource Management Act and other pieces of unworkable legislation and
it’s time to clean up the regulatory burden we live under,’’ she said.
Mrs Adams said she has a particular interest in economic development, communications and regulatory reviews. ``I bring
to the campaign lots of energy and the determination to be a strong voice for Selwyn in Parliament.’’
``This region has a long tradition of strong leadership both at a local, regional and national level, and I hope to be
able to continue that tradition,’’ she said.
``As a businessperson, parent and farmer I hope to appeal to a broad range of voters in our campaign for to secure a
very large party vote for National.’’
Mrs Adams and her husband Donald run sheep and crop 600 acre farm near Aylesbury. Formerly she was a partner in
well-known Christchurch law firm Mortlock McCormack.
