Leader of The Kiwi Party and Petition organiser Larry Baldock has made a commitment to give good Kiwi mums their
parental authority back - the Kiwi Party’s Mothers day present this year.
“I will do all I can to ensure that the ‘nanny state’ led by Helen Clark is removed from interfering with how good mums
raise their children in this country,” said Mr Baldock. Our Promise and pledge is to ensure that before Mothers day
rolls around again next year, the Anti Smacking Law introduced by Sue Bradford and supported by Helen Clark, John Key,
and Peter Dunne will be repealed. Parents then will be allowed to get on with the most important job in this country -
that of raising good kids who have a healthy understanding of how valuable and loved they are by their parents, as well
as a healthy respect for authority knowing the difference between right and wrong.” he said.
Mother’s day is a time when we pause to thank those wonderful self-sacrificing women in our lives who were prepared to
do their best to give us what we needed. As well as lots of love, good food, clean clothes, bed time stories and a host
of other things, there are times when a smack is appropriate as well. “A smack is not abuse!
“Mums, Dads and even children have echoed this statement as my wife and I have collected signatures to force a
referendum that will ask every Kiwi the question, ‘should a smack as part of good parental correction be a criminal
offence in NZ?’ We will continue campaigning against this ridiculous law that has made no difference to the real abuse
occurring in our society,’ said the Kiwi Party Leader.
