Kiwi Party Leader and Tauranga Electorate candidate Larry Baldock said Bob Clarkson’s announcement that he was quitting
politics "because he could get nothing done", gives Tauranga voters a good understanding of their choices this year. "If
Parliament was being renovated then ‘Bob the Builder’ would have been good for the job, but it is now clear from Bob
himself that he was not suited to parliamentary life," said the Kiwi Party Leader.
"Unfortunately the city has had to suffer from his inability to achieve anything and it must now make a wise decision
about its options if we are to progress with the much needed developments in our area over the next three years," he
said.
The choice that Tauranga voters will now have to make at the election will be:
1 A one term City Councilor who would be a Labour back bench MP in Opposition,
2 A new inexperienced politician that would be serving and apprentiship for 3 years in National's back bench,
3 Or someone who has demonstrated his ability and willingness to serve Tauranga already for 3 years previously, with
some notable success. He has also shown his commitment to democracy and good Kiwi families by organising the CIR
petition that will succeed in forcing a referendum on the anti-smacking law to restore parental authority in homes
across the country.
"As leader of the Kiwi Party I have made it clear we will not be supporting a Labour Government and any discussions I
have with John Key after the elections would certainly include the needs of Tauranga," said Mr Baldock.
