Central North Island Treaty Negotiations
Lady Raiha Mahuta and Tukoroirangi Morgan who are currently negotiating the Waikato River Raupatu Claim, totally support the break through made by the Central North Island iwi to reach agreement on their claim.
“We can appreciate the many years of negotiation, the loss of key leaders and kaumaatua over that time, and the strong desire of the iwi to move forward.
“We congratulate the current leadership who carried the weight of the negotiations, and Minister Cullen for accepting the goodwill of the people to conclude their settlement.
“We wish them every success because the hard work starts now.”
