Family Party announces new Party President
3 April 2008. The Family Party is pleased to announce the appointment of Elias Kanaris as its new Party President.
Mr Kanaris’ appointment is a strategic move to allow the former President, George Ngatai, to focus specifically on the
Family Party campaign for Mangere and Manukau.
“We are tremendously excited to have Elias come on board in this fulltime capacity, which reflects the growth and
progress of our organisation since our launch last year. It also enables us to take our campaign for Mangere and Manukau
to the next level through George’s oversight, leadership and direction – reinforcing our position as the genuine
contender against Labour for those seats,” says party leader Richard Lewis.
Mr Kanaris will give national oversight to the organisation and brings extensive experience in Senior General Management
roles. He has a Master of Science in Medical Electronics (University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology, UK),
a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Kingston University, UK) and over 20 years experience
predominantly in the Telecommunications and Financial Services sectors. Such roles have included being a Senior
Consultant, the Product Development Manager at a leading global outsourcing provider and most recently as a Solution
Architect for Vodafone New Zealand. He was also a key member of the internal team responsible for the development of a
Call Centre strategy for Telecom New Zealand’s corporate market.
