Missing Cook Strait kayaker found in Timaru

The missing kayaker Hayley Patuwai is safe and sound in Timaru.
He contacted police this morning after hearing his name on the radio as a missing person.
There appears to have been a lack of communication between him and his family about his intended destination and the reason for his journey. He arrived in Piction on the 24th March after kayaking from Titahi Bay, Porirua. From there he has cycled down the South Island and headed for Invercargill.
He is attempting to raise money for youth at risk in Porirua
