A Taxing Question for Cullen.
Clark and Cullen are showing a callous disregard for New Zealand Families, says Republicans Deputy Leader Bevan Berg.
With further interest rates rises likely, there is going to be increased pressure of family budgets, and we know many
are already feeling this pressure.
We do not want to see increases in mortgagee sales or families abandoning rental accommodation because they can’t afford
to pay the rent.Â
Not only has Mr Cullen consistently refused to give New Zealander’s the long overdue and promised tax cuts that they
deserve and need, but he has persistently refused to budge on tax breaks.
Ms Clark expects New Zealanders to rely on an expanding economy. If she is so sure about that, then use the extra
predicted tax to give us those tax cuts or to offset movement in tax breaks.
“If we are not in a position to expect our central bank to relieve financial pressure on the economy, then any financial
relief falls squarely in the hands of the Government, so when Mr Cullen, will we get a definitive answer about tax cuts
and tax breaks instead of your evasive economic double talk”, asks Berg. Ends.
