AA workers reject deal - EPMU
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union members at the Automobile Association have voted to reject the
organisation’s latest pay offer and will meet this week to discuss their next move.
The one hundred and eighty roadside technicians took nationwide strike action in December last year in support of their
claims to retain their week’s service leave and get national pay parity.
EPMU national secretary Andrew Little says the workers will now vote to decide what action to take next.
“A majority of our members have voted to reject this offer so we are now looking at the best way to continue
negotiations with the AA. Obviously the possibility of further industrial action cannot be ruled out.
“When the terms for this offer were signed the AA decided to tell the media the dispute was over and I suspect that our
members were not happy about that action. Nobody likes reading that they have accepted a deal before they’ve even had a
chance to vote on it.”
Union members and officials in the EPMU’s negotiating team will meet on Wednesday to discuss the next step in the
negotiations. A decision is expected before Easter.
