DCM Calls on Budget Advisors to Lend a Hand
A volunteer budget advisor is needed at Downtown Community Ministry to assist the organisation expand its budgeting service.
"We're looking for an accredited budget advisor to come in for half a day a week and see three or four clients," says DCM Senior Social Worker Dougal Speir.
"We need to increase the number of trained budgeting advisors DCM has on hand to qualify for affiliated membership with the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services (NZFFBS)."
NZFFBS is a national organisation that trains and supports agencies to deliver quality budgeting services.
Dougal says, "Many DCM clients need help with managing debt and other financial issues. Membership of NZFFBS equips DCM with the resources to better assist these people".
DCM already runs the Street People Project, a banking programme for around sixty people who are without or unable to access a bank account.
