Poll confirms the Prime Minister & Sue Bradford's worst fears.
Petition organiser Larry Baldock and Kiwi Party Leader said today he was not at all surprised by the results of the Research NZ poll revealing that 74% are still opposed to the Bradford Bill.
"This confirms what we have been saying all along. Our experience, as we have traversed New Zealand over the past 12 months is that sensible parents, young people, grandparents, singles and married couples still consider the anti-smacking law to be stupid, ill conceived and unnecessary," he said.
After trying to claim on National Radio Dec 21 last year that her bill was never intended to solve Child abuse, Sue Bradford then attempted to claim that public opinion had changed, and that people now regret signing the petition for a referendum.
Speaking on National Radio today, Researcher Emanuel Kalafatelis said he considered the poll results to be definitive because it mirrrored the same poll carried out one year ago which revealed 74% opposition to the repealing of section 59.
Mr Baldock said, "there is a poll that will determine exactly what all New Zealanders think about the law change, it is called a referendum, and it is coming to a polling booth near you very soon!"
