Parenting Phoneline Values Parents
Parent Help Wellington commends the Family Commission for their initiative in launching a website last week which supports and values the role of parenting.
Parent Help Wellington acknowledges that while raising children is the most important job many of us will do, it is also, at times, extremely challenging.
At these times parents need to talk to somebody about a specific problem they are experiencing: they need to be listened to, understood and encouraged, and to receive support that is appropriate for their circumstances and needs.
Parents appreciate the opportunity to work through a problem with a responsive person who has knowledge and experience of parenting issues.
Parent Help Wellington is a community agency that has been offering such a service to families since 1989. Parents of children, from tots to teens and beyond, can access the Parent Help support line 0800 568 856 24 hours a day for assistance with a wide range of parenting issues. Each call is confidential and provides an opportunity to voice concerns and to seek information and support.
Parent Help knows that families are strengthened when parents are well supported. There has been a great deal of publicity surrounding children and families in crisis:
The work we are doing every day is aimed at preventing it from reaching that point.
