No More Cake Stalls?
The National of Women of New Zealand(NCWNZ) is pleased that the government is acknowledging the need for secure financial funding for non-governmental organisations like Women’s Refuge, that play a pivotal role in the well being of the community.
NCWNZ is encouraged by the government’s emphasis on sustainable funding for non-governmental organisations and the planned future-proofing of that funding.
“Organisations like Women’s Refuge have long had to suffer from inadequate and sometimes piece-meal funding. Today’s announcement from the government on sustainable future funding recognises the financial pressures many NGOs have been working under.” NCWNZ National President Christine Low said.
“NCWNZ acknowledges that established organisations such as Women’s Refuge and Plunket have worked within our communities for many years and have the respect and trust of those communities. While cake stalls will not become a distant memory, their frequency may,” concluded Christine Low
