Mayor Zille, Cape Town - our strong condemnation!

Published: Mon 4 Feb 2008 10:48 AM
Dear Mayor Helen Zille
Citizens Against Privatisation of Auckland, New Zealand, condemns you, your administration, and the Cape Town police for shooting live rounds at close range, at trade unionists who, last Thursday, were trying to deliver their demands to you in a quite lawful and reasonable way. The numerous injuries inflicted on SAMWU members by plastic-coated steel bullets, and arrests, are simply outrageous!
The world is watching South Africa - including the machinations of central government and municipalities. Such extreme measures being routinely practised in attempts to suppress workers' and grassroots' struggles, are ultimate outrages by career-politicians hell-bent on implementing a neo-liberal agenda for the ruling class, and their corporations!
As always, our solidarity goes to the working class you are oppressing - not with a bunch of craven cowards! We will do our best to assist all those in struggle.
