Family Party attends EFB protest march
Richard Lewis, leader of The Family Party, joined a procession of over five thousand people in Auckland city today,
expressing opposition to Labours Electoral Finance and Appropriations Bills.
Mr Lewis says the proposed laws will severely disadvantage unelected political contenders such as The Family Party by
capping their spending power over the whole election year, whilst allowing Labour MP’s to utilise government funds to
promote their party and policies. He says the bills collectively undermine freedom of speech and expression in any given
election year, which strikes at the heart of New Zealand’s democratic process of election.
“Any doubts that New Zealanders were indifferent to these dangerous political developments were answered today. Over
five thousand passionate kiwis from a diverse range of backgrounds and political persuasions joined in unity and sent a
very clear message to Labour. Kill the bill,” said Mr Lewis.
Mr Lewis also commended the organisation behind the event and particularly, the speech of event organiser, John
Boscawen.
