State Services report and findings
Hugh Logan, Chief Executive of the Ministry for the Environment, said “I have read and accept the report by Mr Hunn in respect of the Ministry for the Environment’s handling of the recruitment and employment matters relating to Madeleine Setchell.
“The report covers thoroughly all aspects of the Ministry for the Environment’s involvement in this matter.
“I am sorry for what has happened. With the wisdom of hindsight, the Ministry could have handled this better. I should have handled this better.
“The issue was not of Ms Setchell’s making and should not reflect on her integrity and professionalism. I am sorry for the impact that this has had on her.
“The report provides lessons for the future, and will result in the Ministry improving its procedures, systems and performance. I will ensure that this happens.
“The Commissioner has told me that as a consequence of these events I will not receive any performance pay this year,” Mr Logan said.
