Peters The Emotional Opportunist.
The untenable position of the New Zealand First Party Leader as Foreign Affairs Minister was always going to come to grief, with Winston Peters going into election year mode, toying with emotions as he always does, says Republican Leader Kerry Bevin.
“I am calling upon Mr Peters to resign as Foreign Minister, or failing his good grace and dignity, for the Prime Minister to sack yet another errant minister,” says Bevin.
It surprises me that a man who trades in the politics of negative emotion can muster 5% as preferred prime minister. It does not surprise me however, that our born again political aspirant, the new Winston Peters who emerged in March of this year has returned to his familiar tools of trade.
It is an embarrassment to our country that Mr Peters should launch another of his four by two campaigns under the spearhead of apartheid. Any responsible Prime Minister conscious of our countries image would address this issue immediately.
The Republicans are asking who in the current cabinet would best manage this position during what will undoubtedly be a turbulent election year, and will the Prime Minister have the fortitude to address this issue in the current cabinet reshuffle?
“Is there any vision at all in this government?” asks Mr Bevin
