Kindergarten Welcomes Free Funding Increase
As established and proven early childhood education providers that always put education and care for children first, New Zealand Kindergartens Inc. support the opportunity to provide parents with access to Free ECE.
Karen Boyes, President of New Zealand Kindergartens, said "Kindergarten Associations providing early childhood education for over 32,000 three and four year old children throughout New Zealand, have already decided that they will be offering the government’s 20 Hours Free Policy in their kindergartens from 1 July.”
The increase of the free 100 % registered teacher sessional rate announced in the budget today was a welcome surprise. We have been working closely with both the Minister and the Ministry regarding our concerns over the free rate.
It is pleasing to see an increase that will help make this policy work and will result in reducing the cost of high quality Kindergarten Early Childhood Education for Kindergarten families.
