A 45 year old man was found seriously injured on a footpath in Wanaka Place, Mairehau, Christchurch, about 5.15am this morning. Gary SNOOK lived in the area. He was taken to hospital suffering from head and chest injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant John RAE says that Mr SNOOK is still in a very serious but stable condition in Intensive Care.
"We are conducting a thorough investigation while we wait for his condition to become apparent," says Detective Senior Sergeant RAE. "The area is cordoned off while a thorough scene examination takes place."
Mr SNOOK is described as male Caucasian, wearing blue jeans, a green/ red /blue checked flannelette shirt, and brown work boots.
He may have been taken by taxi to the area near his home.
Anyone who can offer any information as to the movements of Mr SNOOK or anyone else in and around Wanaka Place between midnight and 5.15am is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Paul MERRETT on phone 363 7771.
