SEANZ: Government’s Solar Water Heating Proposals Supported
“SEANZ welcomes the Government’s solar water heating support programme announced today. The installation of solar water
heating is an important component of any innovative householder’s attempt to operate their house on sustainable energy,”
said Dr Tony Bittar, chairman of the Sustainable Electricity Association New Zealand(SEANZ, www.seanz.org.nz).
“There are now many sustainable energy technologies that can be considered by householders. They can all play a part in
helping meet New Zealand's growing energy needs. Electricity generated by household-sized bioenergy, solar, wind and
hydro technologies also need support, and their usage needs encouragement and the removal of barriers. SEANZ welcomes
the solar water heating support programme and looks forward to support measures for these other technologies in the near
future” said Dr Bittar.
“The sustainable electricity sector also welcomes the announcement of an “innovation fund” for sustainable energy
projects. SEANZ members will have many innovative projects to submit, and we look forward to the adoption of other
mechanisms in the Government’s energy strategy and climate protection policies to be announced shortly” concluded Dr
Bittar.
