Responsibility and Hard work needed says KNZB
"The presence in NZ of Al Gore offers a great opportunity for every New Zealander to make a commitment to making New Zealand sustainable." Says Hon Roger McClay, Chair of Keep New Zealand Beautiful.
"Whether one agrees or disagrees with Mr Gore’s sentiments, at the very least his presence serves to stimulate discussion about the New Zealand environment." Says McClay.
In light of Mr Gore’s arrival, the publication of the Stern Report and the Prime Minister’s comments at the Labour Party AGM - the environment and our commitment to it, is fairly and squarely an agenda item for all New Zealanders.
Mr McClay comments that "New Zealanders can by no means take it for granted that we will remain 'clean and green', without taking responsibility and putting in some hard work."
"Keep New Zealand Beautiful welcomes Mr Gore to our shores and wishes him well in raising awareness of the environmental debate." Mr McClay concludes.
Note: KNZB is an organisation with a vision for a country where all New Zealanders care about and actively work to restore, enhance and protect the environment.
It provides community based activities and educational programmes that inspire and motivate all citizens to participate in the restoration, enhancement and protection of the local environment
Volunteers are inspired and supported in their efforts to contribute to the creation of a sustainable environment.
