Union members at TVNZ to walk off the job for an hour tomorrow
Union members from the Public Service Association and the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union at TVNZ will
walk off the job for an hour tomorrow to discuss a revised pay offer from the state broadcaster and any further
industrial action.
The unions are seeking a 5 percent pay increase for all members and additional annual leave. TVNZ are currently offering
a 2.25 percent pay rise and no more annual leave.
“Union members are holding a one-hour work stoppage having tried constructive negotiations with TVNZ and mediated
assistance from the Department of Labour,” said PSA National Secretary Richard Wagstaff.
“The meeting will consider the revised offer from the employer and the nature of any further industrial action.”
“TVNZ could stop all industrial action immediately by offering a fair pay deal and better annual leave provisions,” said
Andrew Little, EPMU National Secretary.
“We are still hopeful that TVNZ will come to their senses and recognise the important work staff do in delivering
quality public broadcasting by behaving responsibly towards staff.”
The unions represent over 300 members at TVNZ in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and are presenters, producers,
administrators, camera people and technical support and scheduling.
The meeting is scheduled for 11am.
