Conference to look at excellence in roading
Transit New Zealand, together with the NZ Institute of Highway Technology and Local Government New Zealand, is hosting a conference aimed at the ‘pursuit of excellence’ in transportation.
The conference will be held in Auckland at the Waipuna Hotel from Sunday 15 to Tuesday 17 October 2006.
Keynote speakers will include Minister of Transport, Hon Annette King, National Party spokesperson for finance, John Key, Sonya G Skinner, of the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario Canada, and Chris Olsen, chief executive of Roading New Zealand.
Ms Skinner, who is based at St Catherines near Niagara Falls, has spent 14 years with the Ministry of Transportation. Her experience includes highway planning design and construction, traffic analysis and tolling.
During the two days of workshops, topics to be covered by a variety of local and international presenters will include road surfacing, safety, capital works, performance based maintenance contracts and sustainable transport.
