Air NZ jeopardising worker confidence in Government development agenda
"Air New Zealand management is jeopardising worker confidence in the Government development agenda with its 1990s style
restructuring approach," CTU president Ross Wilson said today.
Air New Zealand General Manager Vanessa Stoddart today confirmed that the company is threatening to make 1700 of its
ground staff redundant.
"As the majority shareholder the Government should be concerned that Air New Zealand doesn't bring its whole economic
transformation agenda into disrepute."
"While workers may accept managed change to build higher value, higher skill, and higher wage industries and businesses,
they will strongly resist any repeat of the 1990s slash and burn approach," he said.
