Locked out workers to return company’s offer in giant envelope
Auckland locked out workers will return copies of Progressive's offer that was couriered directly to them in a giant
envelope at 80 Favona Rd at 2.30pm today, says the National Distribution Union.
Staff from the Te Wânanga o Aotearoa union Tuia will present a donation to the locked out workers after the event.
Progressive Enterprises Limited sent individual copies of the company’s offer to union members directly which National
Secretary Laila Harré said was an attempt by Progressive to undermine collective bargaining.
“This is completely out of order and a blatant breach of fundamental obligations not to undermine collective bargaining
and not to bargain directly or indirectly with union members,” she said. “It is nonsense to suggest the union would
agree to such a tactic as the company has suggested. What possible benefit could there be to the union in agreeing to
something like that?”
Union members rejected the offer at meetings held in the three areas on Tuesday.
