Progressive Distribution Centre Re-opens
Company says it’s good to be back in business
Almost half the Palmerston North Distribution Centre staff members are today at work on the site and the centre has
reopened.
Progressive managing director Marty Hamnett says 26 workers have decided to end their participation in the industrial
action and a total of 44 are now at work.
Mr Hamnett says it’s good to be back in business.
“It’s great to see the trucks rolling again and comes as welcome relief to our team in our Woolworths and Countdown
stores and their customers in the central and lower North Island.
“Already eight trucks will have moved more than 200 pallet-loads of groceries and this will quickly increase to 20
trucks a day.”
Mr Hamnett says customers in the region can soon look forward to improved grocery stock levels.
“Overall this is good news for stores in the central and lower North Island, our shoppers and suppliers in the area.”
Mr Hamnett went on to say the company remains happy to negotiate a reasonable and sustainable settlement.
