Face An Inconvenient Truth
Forest & Bird is inviting Wellingtonians to Face An Inconvenient Truth for a good cause – at the movies.
The film An Inconvenient Truth is a hard-hitting documentary about the challenge global warming poses to our very
existence on Earth, and Forest & Bird is delighted to be showing this movie masterpiece, with a share of the ticket price going towards Forest & Bird’s promotion of energy efficiency and environmental policies.
An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of despair, but rather a rallying cry to protect the one Earth we all share. We can
no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue; rather, it is the biggest moral challenge facing our
global civilisation.
Guest speaker at the screening will be Dr Sean Weaver of Victoria University School of Earth Sciences. He will introduce
the film with a uniquely New Zealand perspective on global warming.
Movie-goers can also enjoy complimentary food and wine before the screening. Banrock Station – which has contributed
more than $AU3 million to conservation projects in 15 countries, including New Zealand – has kindly donated bubbly for
the event.
Forest & Bird Communications Officer Laura Richards says the screening is a fantastic way to help solve a global conservation
issue – while having an enjoyable night out.
“This is a great opportunity to learn about what is probably the most urgent environmental issue of our times, and help
do something about it by supporting this special fundraising event.”
When: Wednesday, 20 September, 5.45pm refreshments, movie starts 6.30pm
Where: Paramount, Courtenay Place, Wellington
Tickets: $20 from Forest & Bird Central Office, 04 385 7374 (Cinema door sales not available).
In 39 years, I have never written these words in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this
film. If you do not, and you have grandchildren, you should explain to them why you decided not to.”
