Special Hearing Scheduled For Shot Man
31 July 2006
An Auckland District Court hearing will be held at Auckland City Hospital today where a 29 year-old man will be charged with assault with intent to rob.
The charge follows an incident in Penrose on Thursday, July 27, where a man allegedly attacked a gun shop worker at about 10am.
The accused is in hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the stomach which he received at the time of the alleged assault. Police investigating last week's incident interviewed the man yesterday afternoon.
Police understand the special Court hearing will be held sometime later today. Public attendance is at the discretion of the presiding Judge.
Police have yet to be advised who the Judge will be and what decision will be made regarding media attendance at the hospital hearing.
