Rates Campaign Moves Into Wellingon
NoMoreRates supporters have been bombarding MPs of all parties demanding that they support a first reading of Rodney Hide’s Rating Cap Bill this Wednesday.
Campaign organiser David Thornton will be in the Visitors Gallery at Parliament to witness proceedings.
David Thornton will also, tomorrow Tuesday, have preliminary talks with Federated Farmers and BusinessNZ to discuss the possibility of all ratepayer groups working together to seek alternatives to rates as the main funding source for local councils.
QUESTION; How many supporters do we have in our campaign?
ANSWER; I don’t know exactly…but…from the HUNDREDS of emails I have received I can summarise as follows..
 Hundreds of individuals who have contacted me directly, plus all the people those people have contacted
 95,000, approximately, members of the Grey Power Federation
 Many Ratepayers Associations from around the country
 And other community groups…not forgetting the first group to join us…Helensville Senior Citizens.
And so far we have been conducting an internet only campaign…..just wait until we expand into other methods of communication.
And where do our supporters come from?
