Workers congratulate Dr Sharples
Maori Party co-leader Pita Sharples’ decision to vote against National’s 90-day probationary period bill is being welcomed by workers.
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said that Dr Sharples had obviously heard the voices of the working people in his electorate, Tamaki Makaurau.
“It has been suggested that taking away basic rights will somehow help disadvantaged people, including Maori, to get jobs,” he said.
“The only thing it will do is lead to exploitation, and we congratulate Dr Sharples for listening to the concerns of Maori working people.”
