Chief of Army Involved in Car Accident
Major General Lou Gardiner, Chief of Army, was involved in a vehicle accident this morning. His car was enroute to Linton Military Camp when the accident occurred on SH 1 near Levin.
The military driver received injuries to his legs and has been taken to Wellington Hospital. The Chief of Army is uninjured.
The accident occurred when the military driver swerved to avoid another car that crossed into their lane. The Chief of Army praised the driver’s quick reactions which prevented a far more serious incident.
New Zealand Police are conducting an accident investigation.
