GAYNZ.com article is factually incorrect and one sided
Yesterday (24.05.06) the GAYNZ.com website posted an article about a press release issued by Family Life International in response to Green MP Metiria Turei's call for legalised homosexual adoptions in New Zealand.
The GAYNZ.com article contains factual errors and shallow rhetoric that ignores research and represents only one side of this important debate.
Firstly, the author of the GAYNZ.com article has referred to Family Life International as "Family First" at least four times in the article. The Family First Lobby is a completely separate organisation to Family Life International and we are unsure how such an obvious error could have been made by the author of the GAYNZ.com article.
Family Life International is also incorrectly referred to as a "Catholic pressure group". We are not exactly sure what a "Catholic pressure group" is, but Family Life International is certainly not one.
Aside form the factual errors; this article also quotes Metiria Turei as saying that research showing a loving heterosexual marriage is the best environment for children was "superficial" and had been "roundly rejected".
These dismissive comments are completely false and they fail to address the specifics of the research which clearly shows that homosexual parenting arrangements are not beneficial to children.
As we stated in our earlier press release; children are not a right or a commodity, and advocating homosexual parenting is not in the best interests of the children who would be forced into such relationship arrangements.
The GAYNZ.com article is one sided, and the author did not seek wider comment from organisations, such as Family Life International, who advocate for the right of a child to be raised in the best parenting arrangement possible.
