The Anzac Effort
A Royal New Zealand Air Force Boeing 757 will assist the Australian Defence Force drawdown from the Solomon Islands today.
The RNZAF B757 departed Townsville this morning after moving the NZ Infantry Company (bound for Timor-Leste) from Christchurch to Townsville yesterday. The aircraft will move Australian troops and NZ Police to Australia and New Zealand. The aircraft is expected to land at Christchurch in the early hours on tomorrow morning.
New Zealand troops in Honiara will continue daily patrols in Honiara, and regular patrols to outer islands. They will also maintain responsibility for perimeter security at Rove Prison, with the aim of ensuring stability within the region.
There are currently 125 NZDF personnel in Solomon Islands.
