The first large intake of new police constables this year graduates from The Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua
tomorrow.
The graduation will take place on Thursday 25 May at 2:00pm.
Several graduation prizes were scooped up by 24-year-old Constable Mark Hamilton, a former bar manager and postie who
will work in Auckland City. He was awarded first in the wing and other academic and skills-based prizes.
During their time at Police College the wing has enjoyed considerable support from their patron, Chief of the New
Zealand Defence Force Lieutenant-General Jerry Mateparae. This has included joining him at the Porirua RSA Anzac Day
Service where he led them on parade.
95 recruits will graduate - 71 male and 24 female
The average age of wing members is 27 (the youngest is 18 and the oldest is 42)

* The Physical Training and Defensive Tactics Award was awarded to Constable Miriam REDDINGTON posted to Wellington.

Lieutenant-General Jerry Mateparae is Chief of the New Zealand Defence Force, a position he was appointed to on 1 May.
He was formerly Chief of the New Zealand Army.
